Law 527, published in Gaceta Oficial 30534 B on 28 May 2026, requires mechanisms enabling players to set time-and-spend limits, plus risk alerts and preventive notifications (Article 3). It prohibits gambling by under-18s (Article 7) and requires online betting platforms to verify identity and age biometrically (Article 8). The six-month facial-recognition transition in Article 8 concerns physical casinos and type-A slot rooms; it should not be presented as an online-platform grace period.

Law 527 empowers the JCJ to order access restrictions against online gambling offered or advertised without its current permission (Article 12). It takes effect the day after promulgation (Article 15) and gives the Executive six months to issue implementing rules (Article 14).
