A one-year-old was left in an 80°F casino car for 2 hours 41 minutes, Pennsylvania regulator says

A gambling exclusion is serious, but it is not a criminal conviction.

Pennsylvania's gambling regulator says one adult left a one-year-old in a vehicle at Parx Casino for two hours and 41 minutes while playing slot machines. The outside temperature was 80°F, approximately 26.7°C.

In a separate case, another adult left a ten-year-old in a vehicle at Hollywood Casino York for 18 minutes while gambling in the sportsbook. The regulator did not identify either adult or child in its public release.

Both adults were placed on the state's Involuntary Casino Exclusion List. That bars them from gambling at Pennsylvania casinos. The Board describes the measure as a statewide loss of gambling privileges.

An exclusion is not a prison sentence, criminal conviction or casino fine. Other authorities may examine child safety under different laws, but the cited record reports only the gambling regulator's action.

Parx Casino and Hollywood Casino York identify where the events occurred. The release does not say either casino was fined or found to have breached a licence condition in these cases.

A separate compliance inquiry could test surveillance, patrols, staff response or reporting. Without such a decision, attaching institutional liability to the venues would go beyond the Board's announcement.

The Board included the 80°F outside temperature in the first account because time and environmental conditions help describe the danger. It did not report the temperature inside the vehicle or a medical diagnosis.

Responsible coverage can state the documented duration and outdoor temperature without inventing an interior reading or outcome. The verified facts are serious enough without estimating what the release does not measure.

Pennsylvania operates a Don't Gamble with Kids campaign and regularly reminds patrons that minors cannot be left unattended in casino parking areas, garages, hotels or other property locations. The August action sits inside that broader prevention effort.

Prevention also depends on detection. Parking patrols, surveillance, employee escalation and prominent warnings can reduce the time before a child is found. The public release does not grade those controls at either property, so this article does not turn a general prevention lesson into an operator finding.

An involuntary exclusion can protect future casino access without resolving what already happened. Any appeal would test the Board's administrative action; any police or child-protection case would use its own evidence and legal standard. Those records should not be assumed from a gambling exclusion.

The same Board meeting added 11 people across its exclusion lists, taking the combined total to 1,499. That total is not a count of unattended-child cases. For these two incidents, the record supports a clear conclusion: the adults lost casino access, while any additional legal consequences require another source. The children's privacy is another reason not to speculate publicly about identities, relationships, health effects or later outcomes.
