DraftKings licensed states: sportsbook and casino permissions

US gambling permission is primarily state-specific. Each reviewed state decides which products are legal, which companies or platform partners may offer them and which regulator maintains the controlling record.

DraftKings can therefore be licensed for mobile sports wagering in one state, licensed for sportsbook and online casino in another, and absent from the reviewed operator record elsewhere. The brand name alone cannot collapse those distinctions.

The Atlas ledger contains 16 DraftKings market relationships: 15 recorded as licensed and Nevada under review. Fifteen are US jurisdictions and one is Ontario, which is retained as a separate provincial record within the North American footprint.

The count reflects markets represented in the Atlas dataset and their recorded evidence dates. The 25 October review rechecked Ohio against the OCCC licence list updated 8 September 2026; New Jersey's DGE directories were rechecked through complete indexed primary copies on 25 October 2026; direct retrieval remained blocked. The list does not cover every DraftKings product, retail location or fantasy-sports registration.

The dated records for Ontario, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia and Connecticut support both sportsbook and online-casino relationships. Pennsylvania also has a separate poker-directory match. Arizona, Louisiana, Virginia, Massachusetts and Maryland have separate fantasy evidence alongside sportsbook licensing.

This product distinction matters for search queries such as whether DraftKings is legal in a state. The answer should specify the product rather than treating the brand as a single licence.

The August review recorded DraftKings through Foxwoods in Connecticut's licensed sports-wagering and online-casino lists. It also recorded separate event-wagering and fantasy entries in Arizona, and separate sportsbook and fantasy identifiers in Louisiana. Connecticut and Arizona retain those earlier source dates. Louisiana’s separate sportsbook and fantasy entries were rechecked on 24 October 2026.

On 26 September 2026, Virginia's permit-holder list, Massachusetts' Category 3 licence roster and Maryland's legal-operator page continued to support sportsbook licensing. Separate fantasy sources also supported adding that product in all three states. Ohio's licence list updated 8 September 2026 and read on 25 October names Crown Ohio Gaming, LLC (DraftKings) as an active mobile management services provider that is currently operating with Toledo Gaming Ventures, LLC. This permission record replaces reliance on Ohio's historical May revenue report. New Jersey's complete indexed DGE directories identify casino.draftkings.com and sportsbook.draftkings.com through Resorts. The copies were retrieved on 25 October 2026: the casino copy was reported crawled two weeks earlier and the sportsbook copy that day. Direct access returned 403, so this remains an indexed-directory check rather than a live page retrieval.

Virginia's sportsbook permit holder is Crown Virginia Gaming, LLC. The separate VDACS fantasy register, dated 30 June 2026, lists DK Crown Holdings, Inc. doing business as DraftKings, Inc., with a registration period from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. VDACS's official notice allows previously registered operators covered by the transition to continue offering fantasy contests pending Virginia Lottery regulations and a permit decision. This transitional permission is separate from the sportsbook permit. The printed registration period is not treated as a current legal cutoff.

Massachusetts licenses Crown MA Gaming, LLC for Category 3 online sports wagering and separately lists DraftKings among DFS operators. The Attorney General's 940 CMR 34.00 governs DFS; the sports-wagering licence does not cover it. Maryland separately lists DraftKings as a licensed online sportsbook and a registered fantasy operator. Maryland fantasy registration excludes contests based on a single team, a combination of teams or an individual athlete's performance in one real event. The fantasy evidence for Massachusetts and Maryland was rechecked on 24 October 2026. Virginia's separate VDACS register and transition notice were also rechecked on 24 October 2026. Louisiana's separate sportsbook and fantasy entries were also rechecked on 24 October 2026.

Some state frameworks connect an online brand to a land-based casino, permit holder or other market-access partner. The regulator may publish the partner, platform, legal entity and brand in different documents.

A careful check records those relationships without assuming that the same partner or entity applies nationally. Where a unique licence or registration number is available, it should be preserved.

The DraftKings product-availability page reviewed on 24 August 2026 did not list its online sportsbook for Nevada and identified only free-to-play contests in the state. The latest closure review did not recover a complete current regulator sportsbook list or an explicit regulator non-licensing statement. Atlas therefore places the relationship under review and retains its 24 August evidence date; the provider page alone cannot establish current regulatory absence.

Nevada's market structure and product permissions differ from the mobile-sportsbook models used in many other states. The label is narrow: it describes the reviewed online-sportsbook evidence and does not make a global allegation about DraftKings or other products.

Start with the exact state and product. Open the responsible regulator's current operator list, revenue report or licensing directory, then search the brand, legal entity and market-access partner. Confirm whether the record is active and whether it covers mobile sportsbook, online casino, poker or fantasy activity.

Save the source date and distinguish a current operator directory from a press release, meeting agenda or historical approval.
