Betfair legal countries in 2026: licence evidence by market

Betfair is an international Flutter Entertainment brand, but gambling permission is territorial. The company, trading name, domain and licensed products can change from one jurisdiction to another. Reachability of a global website is not a substitute for local authorisation.

The current Atlas review records 10 market relationships: six licensed, one authorised, two not listed and Romania under review. The Romanian classification changed when the last confirmed term ended on 31 August without a later official validity period being confirmed. These figures describe the evidence held by Atlas, not a universal list of countries where every Betfair service is available.

Searches for Betfair available countries usually mix four questions: where a page loads, where account registration is accepted, where a particular product is offered and where a regulator has authorised that product. Those answers can differ. Atlas answers the regulatory question and records the product, entity, domain and review date behind it.

A local licence also does not guarantee access for every person. Location, age, identity checks, self-exclusion, payment rules and operator terms can still prevent registration or play. This guide therefore avoids calling a market 'available' when the source only proves authorisation.

The UK Gambling Commission search for Betfair does not return one all-purpose licence. It connects betfair.com and the Betfair trading name to Betfair Casino Limited, PPB Counterparty Services Limited, PPB Entertainment Limited, PPB Games Limited and TSE Malta LP. The current register also contains Betfair Limited as a separate business record without a matching consumer domain in these search results.

This is why a brand-only check is incomplete. The legal entity serving casino activity can differ from the counterparty or betting entity. The UKGC register lets a reader open each account, inspect active activities and confirm the domain rather than assign every permission to a company simply called Betfair.

Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Ireland and Malta carry licensed relationships in the current dataset. The evidence is not uniform. Spain publishes Betfair International Spain SA, the approved domains and a detailed list of general and product licences. Denmark names Betfair International Plc, betfair.com, betfair.dk, online casino and betting.

Malta's dynamic seal names PPB Counterparty Services Limited and licence MGA/CRP/131/2006. Romania is held separately under review because its last confirmed Class I term ended on 31 August and the transition check did not confirm a later validity period. Atlas does not turn that evidence gap into a revocation or illegality finding.

The Irish finding changed after the previous version of this article. GRAI account A-1003 now shows PPB Counterparty Services Limited with trading name Betfair and remote-betting licence GRAI-1003-RB-26-0001. Account A-1074 shows Betfair International plc with remote-betting-intermediary licence GRAI-1074-RBI-26-0001. Both records give an issue date of 11 August 2026.

The split is substantive: remote betting and a betting intermediary are separate regulated activities. Atlas therefore records Ireland as licensed for sportsbook and exchange evidence, while keeping the two legal entities and licence identifiers separate.

Brazil's federal list connects NSX Betfair Brasil S.A., CNPJ 55.229.080/0001-43, the Betfair brand and betfair.bet.br to SPA/MF authorisation 248 of 7 February 2025. The Ministry also explains that federally authorised betting sites use the .bet.br extension.

Atlas uses authorised because that is the legal instrument and vocabulary in the Brazilian source. The record supports the named company and Brazilian domain within the federal fixed-odds-betting framework, but the canonical relationship does not infer a product-category label from that administrative row. It is not evidence for the international betfair.com domain or for an unrestricted casino permission.

Betfair is not matched in the current Buenos Aires City authorised-agency list or the Alderney eGambling licensee register. Those records are retained as research leads, but Atlas does not carry forward an older licensed label when the reviewed current list lacks the brand, known entity or consumer domain.

Not listed is intentionally narrow. In Alderney, Exchange Platform Solutions Limited appears for Betdaq, a separate brand; that entry cannot be reassigned to Betfair. In Argentina, the finding concerns the City of Buenos Aires rather than the whole country.

Betfair's product mix is unusually easy to flatten. A traditional sportsbook takes bets against the operator; an exchange brings betting parties together. Casino and poker permissions sit in other licence categories. A sportsbook record should never become proof of all four.

Spain's DGOJ page makes the range visible: it names sports betting, exchange betting, poker, roulette, blackjack and slots among the operator's licences. Denmark publishes online casino and betting. Malta explicitly records fixed-odds betting, casino and betting-exchange services. Italy is kept narrower in the current Atlas relationship because the product evidence used for that row is narrower.

Start with the jurisdiction and the exact product. Open the local regulator's current register, search Betfair and the relevant Flutter group entities, then match the consumer domain. Confirm status, activity, licence identifier and dates before relying on the result.

If only a company name matches, look for an approved trading name or website. If the brand is absent, record the search terms and use not listed or under review unless the authority publishes a stronger revocation, blocking or enforcement finding.

This high-risk operator guide will be reviewed within 30 days and earlier after a licence grant, surrender, rebrand or enforcement notice. Romania moved to under review on 1 September because the last confirmed Class I term ended on 31 August and no later official validity period was confirmed.
